Andrew Webster is the chief sports writer for The Sydney Morning Herald.

In addition, he also writes issue-based stories on a number of sports as well as investigative feature articles. He has covered rugby league, AFL, the Australian Open Tennis and the Tour de France among many assignments. He was previously the Chief Rugby League writer for The Daily Telegraph and was Deputy Editor of Inside Sport magazine. Andrew has also been a sports reporter and freelance journalist.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts—Communication Studies (Journalism) from both the University of Newcastle and the University of Canberra. His first book State of Origin: 25 Years of Sport’s Greatest Rivalry was co-authored with Norm Tasker, Mike Colman and John Macdonald.

 His celebrated book, Supercoach: The Life and Times of Jack Gibson is a definitive account of the full life of the ‘Coach of the Century’ written with the full cooperation of Jack's family and friends. His book, Gaz, was written in conjunction with rugby league  great Mark Gasnier, whilst his latest book 'The Voice' - The Ray Warren Story, has to date sold in excess of 30,000 copies and topped the best-seller lists.
